When someone criticizes you and calls it feedback, it’s natural to feel hurt or defensive. Mindfulness can help you handle these moments with calm and self-respect. When you receive criticism, pause and take a slow, deep breath. Notice any feelings or thoughts that come up maybe you feel tense, embarrassed, or angry. Instead of reacting right away, focus on your breath and remind yourself that it’s okay to have these emotions.
Try to listen to the feedback with an open mind, but remember it doesn’t define your worth. Treat yourself with kindness, just as you would comfort a friend. If needed, give yourself a moment to step away, breathe, and reflect before responding. Mindfulness helps you stay grounded and respond thoughtfully, rather than reacting out of hurt.
